Solid wood furniture is good, but do you know how to maintain it?
Author:
Why does solid wood furniture crack?
Reason one: solid wood moisture content problem
The moisture content of solid wood furniture is not well controlled, and quality problems such as cracking and deformation will occur due to environmental factors such as sunlight, overcooling, and overheating. Therefore, it is very important to control the moisture content of solid wood furniture.
Reason 2: The weather
Due to the difference of geographical location, the climate and weather are not the same, so the moisture content requirements of solid wood furniture are also different. For example, the average annual moisture content in Beijing is 11.4, so the moisture content of solid wood furniture should be controlled at 10.4 or 9.4. The average moisture content of air in the south is 14%, while that in the north is 12% to 13%. Therefore, after some solid wood furniture from the south is transported to the north, there will be cracking.
Reason three: improper use
Some friends do not take good care of expensive solid wood furniture and place it in the bedroom by the window to make "baby" endure balcony exposure. Or wipe the dust with an overly moist towel. Move the furniture at will, resulting in damage to the furniture frame.
Reason four: transportation damage
Furniture in transit, there will inevitably be bumps, plus climate reasons, solid wood furniture transportation is even more difficult. Although solid wood furniture than other materials of furniture, will be more "strong", but not good maintenance, it is difficult to escape.
2 solid wood furniture cracking how to rescue?
If it is judged by the naked eye and there is no crack, it is very easy to solve. Use 502 glue to drip along the crack, and then use a blade to gently scrape off the excess glue, but do not use the blade to hurt the paint surface of the furniture. If small cracks have been cracked, the treatment will be relatively complicated.
Several emergency remedies are available:
(1) Boil old books and newspapers cut into chips, a proper amount of alum and clear water into paste, carefully embed them into cracks and wait for solidification.
(2) White glue sawdust is stirred evenly, embedded in the gap, and polished with sandpaper after one day and one night.
(3) with paint and pigment after mixing embedded plug flat. The paint surface is scratched and the wood under the paint is not touched. Crayons or pigments with the same color as the furniture can be used to alter the wound surface of the furniture to cover up the revealed background color, and then a thin layer of transparent nail polish can be applied.
(4) if there are white hot marks on the furniture, usually with alcohol, toilet water, oil wet cloth can be scrubbed.
(5) If cigarette butts or unsettled matches leave scorch marks on the paint surface of furniture, a layer of fine-grained hard cloth can be wrapped on the matchstick or toothpick, and the traces can be gently wiped, and then a thin layer of wax can be coated to fade the scorch marks.
